John Deere R134a Refrigerant R134a is the refrigerant required by John Deere for air-conditioning retrofit. It is also the only refrigerant recommended for current production and retrofit by all mobile vehicle OEMs such as General Motors, Ford, Chrysler, Honda, Toyota, Case, Caterpillar, Kenworth, Peterbilt, Mack, Navistar, etc. There is an aftermarket policy that if any refrigerant other than R-12 or R134a or any refrigerant oil other than mineral or PAG is used in a system with a John Deere aftermarket compressor, then the compressor warranty is voided John Deere's compressor suppliers will only endorse R-12 and R134a R134a and R-12 equipment must not be contaminated with blended refrigerants Options for recovery and recycling of blended refrigerants are limited A/C systems with unknown refrigerants must be evacuated before additional refrigerant is added Mixing of blended refrigerants is not recommended or approved Warranty is void if any alternative refrigerants are used
